A research desk, not a test kitchen
GrillNotch Research Desk
Research & Data Team
GrillNotch is run as a research desk, not a test kitchen. We research-rank grills from normalized manufacturer specs, dated price receipts, and documented channel-legitimacy checks. We do not claim hands-on testing: when we say a grill ranks first, the ranking is built from the numbers and sources we cite, not from cooked meals we never made.
- Manufacturer-spec normalization
- Dated price receipts
- Channel-legitimacy checks
Why this site exists
Grill shopping on Amazon is a spec-sheet minefield. Manufacturers quote cooking area five different ways, BTU numbers get padded with side burners, and most “review” sites answer with a list of affiliate links and a first-person story about a cookout that never happened.
GrillNotch is the opposite bet: that buyers are better served by an honest research desk than by a fake lab. We don't claim to cook on these grills. We normalize every spec onto one scale, date every price we show, check whether the Amazon channel is even legitimate for each brand, and publish the receipts next to the rankings.
How the desk works
- ✓Normalized specs — every grill re-keyed onto the same 11-field schema, with the manufacturer source and check date attached.
- ✓Dated price receipts — nightly Creators API refresh, and every price renders with the date it was last checked.
- ✓Channel-legitimacy checks — when a brand doesn't authorize marketplace sales, we say so and route you to an authorized dealer instead of taking the commission.
- ✓Research-consensus ratings — 0–10 scores built from the published expert landscape, the spec sheet, and the price receipt. Never from Amazon review synthesis.

Affiliate disclosure
GrillNotch is reader-supported. When you buy through links on this site, we may earn an affiliate commission from Amazon at no extra cost to you. Commission rates are never an input to a ranking: we've suppressed the Amazon path entirely on products where the channel isn't legitimate, and we'll keep doing that wherever the receipts point.
